Compliance

Sera is committed to operating a safe and responsible platform. As part of that commitment, we use on-chain analytics to screen wallet addresses and prevent bad actors from accessing our services.

Wallet Screening

Sera screens the relevant wallet addresses before protected API actions, using the configured screening provider and policy. A blocked result can prevent that action from proceeding.

An earlier screening result does not authorize future transactions. A later block does not automatically revoke all account access: authenticated reads and signed cancellations follow their own checks, as described below.

API Access and Screening

Protected order, swap and funds operations apply screening to the relevant owner and recipient and can reject the action with COMPLIANCE_BLOCKED. A screening outage can make those actions temporarily unavailable. Authenticated account reads and signed cancellations have separate access checks and are not subject to a blanket screening ban; keeping them available lets users inspect and reduce open exposure.

The Address Screening API exposes versioned public queries, batch checks and history. Query results describe their dataset, coverage and policy at the time checked. They do not authorize a later transaction, and NO_MATCH is not a general assurance of safety.

Funds and On-Chain Withdrawal

Screening can restrict API actions. It does not itself transfer the user’s assets. A separate Vault blacklist is an on-chain admin capability: it blocks deposits/credits and trading checks, while existing balances can still be withdrawn through Sera under the withdrawal rules.

Users can request emergency withdrawal without the API. The balance, delay and token-transfer conditions remain in force. Contract roles and governance are part of the security model; do not equate off-chain screening with the absence of on-chain administrative controls.

Why We Do This

On-chain analytics help Sera identify and avoid facilitating illicit financial flows. This includes wallets associated with:

  • OFAC-sanctioned addresses
  • Known mixers or tumbling services
  • Addresses linked to hacks, scams, or theft
  • Other high-risk classifications identified by our analytics provider

This protects honest users and helps ensure Sera operates responsibly within the evolving regulatory landscape.
